I think transponders are only used for Timing. Not scoring. So your finish would still be wherever your slow arsed purple tire wearing car finished.

The really scary thing here is that Nico is just liable to have a harpoon on his car next year. Of course, the question is will Nico stop with simply harpooning other cars for the placement of a transponder.

Hmmmm......I see an IT arms race coming this year and it ain't gonna be pretty!

Count me in on the group purchase. I'm referring to the transponders not the harpoons. I would probably install that backwards which could get messy!

Has MiDiv decided where they will want the transponders mounted by class? I have ordered my transponder and I run in AS. Will we have a ruling from MiDiv or is there a National standard that we can follow? Thanks

Are any AMB transponders sufficient? I've found the older model X160 rechargeable model for about $100 less than the newer X260 model that AMB currently retails.

A local indoor karting place here in DSM uses the x160 on their karts. The resolution/accuracy that those transponders provide isn't accurate enough for us. It's not uncommon to see 3 of the 8 karts on the track turn the EXACT same lap times - down to the "supposed" 2 decimal places they display.

I really WISH we could use those - the guy running the place said he'd work with us to get a deal on them if we could use 'em.....but we can't.

Ok, thanks for the info. I guess I'll wait a bit longer to see if Midiv is going to run a groupbuy on the new AMB units.
