Heartland Park - Saturday Incident

Club Racing topics.

To ALL Race Officials and Heartland Park Staff:

We have just experienced one of the most trying moments in our racing lives.

I spent the last two days reviewing the written and verbal information and reached several conclusions:

Our actions were correct and executed proficiently.

Each and every individual knew what to do and how to do it. Our learned skills became instinct.

We had all the right people and all the right equipment. We did what we could do, but we could not undo the incident itself.

I am very proud of every one of you for your immediate and professional response, and most of all because you all became one in those moments we dealt with the incident.

We still have some grieving to do. As we complete this process, we will have reached a higher level in our racing lives. We have experienced more, and now we will begin sharing our knowledge with those we work with on track.

Thank you for who you are, what you do, and who you have become,

Jack Kish
Executive Steward
Midwest Division
