This is where we will discuss/vote on the decision to keep the MiDiv Convention in the Fall, or move it to the Spring.
Please give your input.
Thanks,

Ok, I'm in!
I'm leaning towards the fall date, but we must do something to get the scheduling out of the Sat. meeting. _________________ Dale Smith

The idea behind moving it to Spring was to be able to use the info we get from the National Convention and spread that info to attendees.
I would like to see attendance grow. _________________ Janice Rick |

Having recently started going to both the National and MiDiv conventions, I like the idea of having the MiDiv convention soon after the National.
The discussions/decisions that need to be relayed will be fresh and timely.

When I first came to MiDiv from another division (circa 1990), there was a spring meeting and a fall convention. NeDiv and CenDiv have two meetings/year today.
The primary drawback I see to having only a spring meeting is that we probably won't review any of the things which happened during previous season. Let's face it, by spring many of us will have forgotten and/or repressed certain situations which need to be addressed and planned for in the next year.
Yes, a spring meeting does allow us to bring forth the ideas and enthusiasm from the National Convention. And, maybe a spring meeting would allow people to find some extra cash early in the year, rather than trying find money at the end of the year.
Are there good reasons to have both a spring meeting and a fall meeting?

The facility was booked in St. Louis the first weekend in Nov. The facility
wants STL to sign the contract. We will need to finalize this soon with them or be forced to give up the date.
No pressure huh?
Maybe the best idea right now is to do nothing and add this to the agenda for the 2007 meeting in Nov. _________________ Janice Rick |

I've participated in the fall meetings since 1995 and I like them in the fall as a wrap up to the year as for the scheduling meeting we just need to allow enough time for it to be complete. _________________ Thanks,

Question for verification:
How much official voting/decision/discussion is done at the Midiv convention?

Based on prior discussions and emails, it would appear that the majority of the Regions are, at this time, in favor of leaving it in the fall. Since STL is now short on time to set a firm date, I think Jan's idea of putting this discussion off until the fall is worthwhile.
Any thoughts/opinions on this?
Thanks,

Chuck, I agree with Jan. Let's decide at the 2007 convention in STL. We are burning too much time on this issue right now. _________________ Thanks,

OK then unless someone objects
The Midwest Convention will be held in St. Louis on the 1st weekend in Nov.
In the past we have had Race seminars and meetings only on Sat.
Last year we ran out of time in the scheduling meeting.
Sugestions of how to schedule the "correct" amount of time for this meeting?
What other meeting do we want? _________________ Janice Rick |
