Mark Weber is running for Area 6 Director

Mark Weber, St. Louis Region member, is the lone candidate running for Area 6 director, succeeding Chris Albin who is completing his second term.
SCCA  bylaws limit a director to two consecutive terms. Bylaws also provide that an unopposed candidate will receive one vote, thus there will not be an open election in Area 6 this year. Area 6 comprises all 14 Regions of the Midwest Division.
Weber is a 50+ year member of SCCA, and a club racer with more than 600 starts. For many years he campaigned a Sprite in F and G Production, often doing engine changes in  the paddock between races. More recently he has been in an E Production Miata, winning this year’s MidAm Championship.
Weber also had a 50-year career as a motorsports photographer, including 25 years as the official photographer for SCCA pro Racing. Last January he was inducted into the SCCA Hall of Fame.

How to deal with Electric Vehicles – *Important safety information*

Last year SCCA formed the Electrified Vehicle Advisory Committee (EVAC) to create unified procedures across SCCA programs for Electrified Vehicles (EVs). The committee has produced a 19-page PowerPoint of information about EVs and how to deal wih them in emergency situations. It is reproduced HERE in PDF format, recommended for anybody who may encounter EV emergercies in all of SCCA’s programs.

The nine-member committee is led by SCCA Area 4 Director Dayle Frame – an EV owner and Solo competitor – and is comprised of representatives from Road Racing, Track/Time Trials, Rally/Solo and industry experts. The first tasks the EVAC has been charged with are to create basic safety rules for EVs at SCCA events and to help guide regions and facilities when it comes to training and being equipped for EVs.
