Fun fact: Ladd’s BMW Z3 was originally built by Jesse Prather, who won the EP national championship in it at the 2020, 2021 and 2022 Runoffs. Then he sold it to Greg Ira who raced it to the 2023 Runoffs victory. Ira sold it to Ladd, who drove it to this year’s Runoffs win. That’s five consecutive championships in the Prather-built car.

Carl, Hill and Macoubrie claim RallyCross national championships

Three MiDiv RallyCross drivers turned in a winning drive at the SCCA RallyCross Nationals in Hollytree, AL, Oct. 18-20,
• Donald Carl, NeOkla Region, won Stock FWD in his 2024 Volkswagen Golf GTI by a 2.585 sec margin after 11 laps of the Hollytree Off-Road Park. It’s his second win.
• Mark Hill, Kansas Region, won Prepared AWD for a fifth time in his 2006 Mitsubishi Evo IX. Despite pylon penalties on seven of his 11 laps, he racked up a 32.450 sec victory, the widest winning margin of the event.
• Mark Macoubrie, Kansas City Region, won Modified AWD in his 2005 Subaru WRX STi, holding a 0.347 sec margin in the tightest contest of the weekend. It’s championship No. 3 for Macoubrie.

Eight MiDiv class winners at Solo Nationals

Eight Midwest Division drivers won their classes at the 2024 Tire Rack SCCA Solo Nationals, Sept. 5-8 in Lincoln, NE.

Wilcox won his eighth national championship, Blume her fifth. Heaton took his fourth win (two in the former Junior Karts),  and Walton her second. Green and Russo won their first championships. Puls, in an undersubscribed class, was declared a nationals winner. Stoughton ran as an exhibition entry.
